When it comes to not knowing how to use roads, the elderly are definitely the largest culprits. Failing to use the proper signal, turning too soon or late at a light, going the completely wrong direction on the highway, these are all things the elderly especially excel at when driving.
Case in point, a 77-year-old Japanese man was caught driving into oncoming traffic on the highway after going about a kilometer in the correct direction, then realizing he wanted to go back home and just turning right around and driving down the exact same lane in the wrong direction.
Traffic laws can be complicated. We get this. But to just turn right around on the highway and drive into oncoming traffic at high speeds takes a special kind of courage and absentmindedness that can only be achieved by being over the age of 70.
We imagine the man realized he’d left his air conditioner or his coffee plate on, and made the decision to just turn right the f&$k around and drive into the oncoming lane, screaming at the top of his lungs, weaving through traffic like a madman, because when you’re over 70 years old, you know you’ve got a lot less time to accomplish the things you want in life than others.
Luckily, no one was hurt by the man’s complete lack of awareness for the safety of himself and other drivers, and he was stopped by police before he could ramp over another car Grand Theft Auto style, shaking his fist angrily at other drivers actually following traffic laws.
