The Japan National Tourism Organization announced, probably tearfully, the results of a 2012 census comparing inbound tourism by country recently.
The results show France was 2012’s most visited country, followed by the United States and China in second and third. Japan, on the other hand, was all the way down at 33rd place, behind Croatia, the UAE, Egypt and possibly that giant oceanic garbage island we’re always hearing about.
This news must be a blow to Japan’s self-esteem, as the country has always fancied itself the cultural center of Asia.
