Video: Tokyo Station’s 100th Anniversary Commemorated With Touching Anime


Tokyo Train Station celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Although it’s not the city’s main station, in terms of size or location, it’s certainly the most iconic. To commemorate the occasion Tokyo Station City – the labyrinthine underground network of shops and restaurants beneath the station – commissioned this short anime:

Though the video neglects our favourite thing about the station, the amusing daily battle between fast-paced business people and lost tourists stumbling wide-eyed into their paths, its recreation of the station really is stunning and the ending packs an emotional punch.
