Video: Mario Travels Through Real-Life Tokyo, Falls Asleep on Subway

In a new trailer for Super Smash Bros by Japan-based visual effects artist Dean Wright, Mario is seen making his way across real-life Tokyo to enter a tournament at Yoyogi Stadium.

He picks up some plumbing supplies, races across a railway track with a blatant disregard for safety, dozes off on a train – as a foreigner with facial hair, it’s no surprise to see that the seat next to Mario has been left unused – then runs across Shibuya Crossing before arriving at Yoyogi Stadium. Unfortunately we don’t get to see him eat any “special” mushrooms that make him believe he’s doubled in size.

Mario fact: The name of Mario’s nemesis “Wario” is a combination of the name Mario and the Japanese word for bad, “warui”

Dean says he’ll be uploading a “making of” next week, so be sure to check out his YouTube page.
