Video: Japan’s Fox Village

We’ve posted about Japan’s rabbit island before (as well as its surprisingly dark past) but Japan’s love for hordes of one specific animal doesn’t end at Okunoshima, there’s also the cat island of Tashirojima, and Fox Village in Miyagi.

Kitsune Mura (as it’s known in Japanese) is located in the Zao Mountains, a 20-30 minute drive from Shiroishi station. Entrance is ¥1000 for adults and ¥400 for children, and guests get to see six different kinds of fox:

Click “CC” in the video below for subtitles. The best moment is around the four-minute mark when one of the foxes steals part of the cameraman’s microphone – according to the interviewee though, shoes are their favourite.
