Video: Fried Shrimp Cooked in 3 Seconds With Specially-Built Cannon

tempura three seconds

We’re big fans of Japanese TV commercials at Tokyo Desu, and our current favourite is a parody of Nippon TV’s “Three Minute Cooking Show” by mobile phone operator Docomo. Rather than explaining the terms of their new data plan, or displaying happy people talking on phones and smiling, they sell it by cooking shrimp tempura in three seconds with the help of a cannon.

In the video, the presenter sets up a few of the machine’s components before pressing a big red button and… we’ll let you watch the rest.

At the dining table scene, the question the woman asks without being given a response is “Delicious isn’t it?” then the table shown immediately after includes the amount of calories and salt included in the fried shrimp – though we’d perhaps consider flying crustaceans and bursts of flame more of a danger to our health.
